DigiPay announces the expansion of its engineering team, doubling from 8 to 16 developers over the next quarter. This investment in talent accelerates our product roadmap and enables faster delivery of features merchants have been requesting including enhanced mobile apps, recurring billing, multi-currency support, and preparation for expansion across East Africa.
Why We Are Growing
Merchant demand for new features has outpaced our development capacity. Our roadmap includes over 40 features requested by active merchants, from simple quality-of-life improvements to entirely new payment products. Doubling the engineering team ensures we can deliver these features faster while maintaining the platform stability and security our merchants depend on daily.
Key Focus Areas
New team members will focus on four strategic areas. The mobile engineering team will enhance the DigiPay Merchant app with features like real-time transaction alerts, one-tap payment collection, and offline mode for areas with poor connectivity. The platform team will build recurring billing infrastructure for subscription businesses. The integrations team will add support for new payment methods and regional providers. The security team will enhance fraud detection using machine learning models.

East African Expansion Preparation
Part of the team expansion prepares DigiPay for operations beyond Kenya. Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda represent significant market opportunities where M-Pesa and mobile money are already dominant. Building integrations with MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, and Tigo Pesa requires dedicated engineering resources and deep understanding of each market's regulatory environment.
